Today we recieved scans results back for Bob.
For those that don't know, in Dec. '04 he was diagnosed with stage 4 renal cell cancer. Given 9-18 months. He did some clinical trials w/out response and then a treatment not typically recommended for someone in his condition, it had about 5-7% chance of working but with prayer it did for him.
The scans are clear, that is great news. We now can portion out another 6 months of living. It is so odd to view your future in 6 month segments. For a while it was 3 month, then 4 month and now graduated to 6 months between scans. Life will be viewed with a heightened sense of wonder and gratitude for a couple of weeks, then normal creeps in for a while, and then concern, fear and dread. What a cycle. Golly, it doesn't get easier.
But tonight I am grateful, the sun is setting in beautiful blue sky and the birds are chirping and hope is all around.

Eileen, that is wonderful news! I am so happy for you and your family. It's really sad that most people (myself included) don't take the time to appreciate life and the people around us. I'me sure your kids have a much deeper appreciation for you and Bob than most..if I remember right they were still in school when Bob was first diagnosed....most kids that age don't realize what they have in their parents. I know I didn't...now that I am older I can see it better but there were alot of wasted years. I hope there are many, many more 6 months for you. Today we recieved scans results back for Bob. A wise man, asked what would he would do today if death was on for tomorrow replied:
"I would tend my garden."
Isn't it wonderful how some folks turn to the beautiful and the good as the summer flowers turn to the sun.
Such people are my heroes.
Thank you,
fish

That is wonderful news Eileen. I'm so happy for all of you. I cant imagine what it would be like to live life like that. I continue to pray that God give you the strength you all need to endure.
I tell Bob's story often to people. He surely is an example of the power of prayer.
Please let Bob know how happy we are for him.
Pam
