Fish, you seem to appreciate a good cup of Joe and I know Pam used to be a coffee~a~ holic at one time too...not sure about Eileen.
Anyone have a good source for beans? I usually will just get Starbucks French roast beans and grind them to a pulp. There really isn't anything local where you can get a decent fresh bean.
My father was back one morning and I just ground beans and was getting my coffee ready for the week. (sorry I grind on sunday for the weeks worth of joe...ain't grinding at 3 am) anyway I had the pot ready for my morning cup, gave him a cup..lol He says wow that'll lift your hat up! I got a kick out of it. I think my mom used to put aone scoop in for the whole pot...I use about 1.5 for 2 cups of water. Yeah I like it strong.

I love my coffee strong. And since my heart palpatation seemed to have disappeared in light of my new thyroid meds dose, I have been enjoying a cup of real coffee once a week. Trying not to get to addicted to it again. Jack hates my coffee, his has no taste if you ask me. Just tinted water.
I try to only buy organic coffee since I discovered the amount of pesticides they use on coffee beans. I get mine from Whole Foods. Not sure if you have one there. I try to get there once a month or every other month...not as close as it used to be. I just get their store brand and its pretty good. I get the stuff that already ground though. Cant find my coffee grinder and not going to buy one. I know as soon as I do it will show up.
Nothing better than a good strong cup of coffee to start your day!

I too am serious coffee lover. I use filtered water, refrigerate the beans and grind the beans each morning. I buy Caribou Coffee Fench Roast and use 6-7 scoops per 10 cup pot. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

i grind too much, but keep it in an airtight container.
i can tell that it looses a little.
i have to get another grinder. i started cooking indian food, and used the coffee grinder for the spices. need a dedicated coffee grinder.
i think it is the combination of good water, at the right temperature, over the proper grind for the right amount of time.
finer the grind, less time required.
generally use a coarse grind with longer steeping since the extraction is good, and the coarse grind stores a little longer.
best so far is percolator grind with the 200 or so water for 5 mins.
we use different coffees. latest is a guatemalan we got at BJ's.
columbian supremo is generally good for a mild but good brew regardless of brand because there are national standards for the supremo label.
yeah, i like my coffee.
