my brother lives in CT. he is worried.
sissy !
i keep telling him that we get these things quite often.
we call them nor'easters and they are models for the so called perfect storm.
in the winter, they are the most beautiful blizzards imaginable, if one is all tucked in at home, that is. sideways snow. the sound of hurricane winds through the deep woods.
i have made some posts here after strolling through those woods at the height of such a storm.
not much risk if one has local knowledge, and some risks are worth taking in any case.
have i told you guys about sailing through the hurricane on our way from Maine to St. Croix ? 50 foot mast on our sailboat, seas higher than the mast. crew of four, one a youngster.
i have had some fun in my time.

Made it through...still don't have power at home but all is well. Big tree came down in my neighbors yard...luckily went the other way from me. My brother also lost a pretty large tree, also lucky it went the other way.

lot of folks don't understand the effect of too much water on the root systems of large trees.
make the soil into deep mud, add some wind that the tree could otherwise withstand, and it's down.
scary

this one really was not that bad in terms of wind and water.
nyc got hit with full moon, high tide, wind, and water coincidence.
staten island, if you have not been there, is a nice place. or at least it was a nice place 35 years ago when i was last there.
wow, time flies.
