row again out late
overcast and calm and warm.
God please send a few more like this one.
the most lovely portion of the row is almost due east, so the sunrise is blinding. if it is forecast clear, i try to get on the water before dawn to get one run due east, (maybe two) and then repeat the north south portion a few times.
if it is overcast, i can get there anytime, if it is calm.
tomorrow looks like an early day. hard to complain when the sun is shining, but ...

dense fog, 100 foot ceiling. so no row so i dug out the septic tank instead. tree roots invading and completely clogging the tank intake/house discharge for the last two years. last year, who knew? this year, now we know we have a problem
plumber is for inside the house. septic guys are for outside the house. but ....
septic guys don't do this job. they clear the intake, but getting to the root of the problem is the homeowner's job.
dug down and around the pipe. 3 inch tree root wrapped around the pipe at the wall of the tank. have to see it to believe it. there were roots upon roots.
cleared the soil and rocks from the roots and took them out in stages.
thank the good Lord for sawsalls.
functional fitness.

row groom the area around the septic system.
there are fresh water muscles and snails in the cove. the patterns they make on the sand underwater are pretty.

row
well, that was exciting.
checked on wonderground
they said it was going to be windy, but they also said the wind was not blowing and it was in the high 60s.
got there half hour before sunrise.
no wind
got the boat in the water, rigged and ready to go.
no wind.
rowed the first 1.5 mile from the bridge to the dam.
a little breeze.
saw the two bald eagles together in their tree.
a little more breeze.
turned to row the 1.5 back.
wind with gusts.
it got pretty hairy out there. racing shells are not very stable, and there was water over the deck.
at one point the boat was going backwards.
great fun though.

Wind can be a wicked thing on water.
When we fished Lake Ontario you were always looking over your shoulder for storms. Got caught in a couple of them that we shouldn’t have been in.
