had a really good one.

years ago, before cell phones.

ocean kayaking trip out for a week off the coast of Maine.

good boats could carry enough gear: drinking water, coleman stove, etc.

miles off shore, land on a tiny island.

set up by boy scout rules even though weather looked fine.

drew the boats up far.

set the tent up protected to windward.

dug the water trench around the tent.

etc. etc.

horrendous storm that night and the next day.

friends boats overturned at anchor in harbor.

friends wondering whether to call out the coast guard.

we were safe and sound, but only because of super cautious set up.

i have had a lot of fun.
