The good news: Since I stopped doing the T-bar lifts my knees feel much, much better.
The bad news: Each time I resume the T-bar lifts my knees feel much, much worse.
What I don't understand is that I have no discomfort as I do the exercise. It is only after the workout, and for days after the workout, that my knees are so sore that I am dragging my legs. Going down stairs is almost painful.
I really really enjoy that lift. There is something about picking up double my body weight that I like. Not much for many, but a lot for me.
I am going to try to work it out, less often, less weight, fewer reps, and anything else I can think of, but signs point to no.
I hate to loose that lift, but walking without pain is important.
Life is hard.

If it's strictly a joint problem you might want to try glucosimine w/chondrotin. I take it daily and have had absolutely no joint problems. Knee braces or wraps could also help.
Since you're a biker, I imagine your quads and calves are in good shape but you may want to do some specific exercises to strengthen those muscle groups that stablize the knee.
If it's temporary soreness, work through it giving yourself ample recovery time. Good luck......I know how it feels to be limited.

Jack,
Pretty much my thoughts too.
I take the G&C, although not in the recommended dosage. I mistakenly bought 500s instead of 750s and while I take one in the am with the multi, the aspirin, and the fish oil, I often don't remember to take another in the pm.
My primary leg stuff:
Indoors I bike, I row, I ski and outdoors I do those and I in-line skate and snowshoe too. I can't run anymore. My knees.
In re weights: To hit the glutes and hams harder than the usual T-bar lift, I occasionally do what are sometimes called Romanian dead lifts. I assume that you are familiar with these.
I intend to do the RDL's on a more regular basis. I have never done good mornings. I've read too many bad things about them, although I know they are one of your regulars.
I also get relief if I massage the knee area before and after workout. I have one of those massagers that barbers used to use, you may be old enough to remember, it fits over the back of the hand so the fingers and palm can be used. If you don't have one, get one. The thing is great.
I can't understand why I can do all that other stuff with little or no soreness.
What other exercises would you suggest ?
Perhaps I am not warmed up enough, but after I row for 15 minutes, my regular is a pyramid of 3 x 135, 155, 185, 205, then 2 X 225, 255, 275, then 1X 295, 325 and then reverse back down .
Maybe I'm just OLD.

Am I that old?? I remember those massagers. We used to have one when I was a kid, a very very young kid Fish I dont remember do you have a rack? Not sure what you've hear about GM's but I've never had any problem with them. I set the safety's on my rack so I never go down further than I want to.

I must be the youngster.....I don't remember those or maybe I just don't remember like I used to . You may want to cut down on your volume to give your knees some relief.....something in the 25 to 30 rep range for this exercise. You might want to try the massage before your workout in addition to post workout or some other light exercises to really warm the knees up.......deep knee bends, light leg extensions or squats.

testosterone and balance may be mutually exclusive.
but that's because there are women.
i just love women.
i guess that proves the point: testosterone and balance are mutually exclusive.

How time flies !
Knees still bad, make that worse.
The good news: the doc took pictures and the spaces are good and the surfaces are smooth. Probably not arthritis, either O or R.
The bad news: the doc has no idea what the problem is.
The ugly news: the is sending me to his personal ortho. I don't much like cutters. The doc says this guy does not cut, but orthos scare me.
