Once a tendon snaps will it ever heal itself?

Sounds stupid here but....just at the base of your thumb where your wrist would start. I'm cutting a pie ( I know that should have been my first clue to stop) anyway I feel this snap, just like a rubberband in my thumb and wrist. Hurts like heck. I've had this happen a couple times before. I couldn't think of it being anything else other than a tendon..but I'm no Dr.

any thoughts?

Couldn't have been trying to do wrist curls or something productive..pie! sigh!

What kind of pie were you cutting girl lol we never get hurt doing the cool stuff.

I don't know about that one. You said its happened before did you see a doc for it? I am going to assume no, I know how you feel about doctors. Does it hurt? Swollen?

No it's not swollen, no I didn't go to the Dr. before..no I hav no intensions of going to see one now. I can't say it hurts, sore...but I can feel something happened.

I have round twist type clamps on my press (same motion as opening a twist off bottle cap..beer of course Fish) That's when I have felt it before.

Kind of gross's me out...I keep picturing a chicken leg with al the tendons in it and one of those just breaking loose. Really does remind you of a rubber band breaking.

URGENT!!!
Sue, that happened to my Dad and he waited too long to see a doctor. It can be fixed, I believe with a local but must be done soon, or it won't work. See an orthopedic or sports medicine guy. Dad now has a locked thumb. Bummer

opposing thumbs are important.
