Let see if this flyes. I pulled sod, leveled the area I pulled it from, layed patio bricks and finally layed sod. Oh and I took the kids school clothes shopping. Does that count for anything? I did a lot of squatting, and I I had to take the patio blocks off the shelf, load them in the van, unload them and lay them..over and over again. Thats it for me boys. Tomorrow is more of the same.

Pam,
please tell me that you did your reading before you laid those bricks ! ground prep is crucial to a lasting job.
and please tell me that you got the right kind of bricks !

I didnt read a thing but I didnt do too bad a job. It actually looks pretty good, and best of all, its still level! They move around some but I need to leave them that way for now until the gas line is run. Not sure where that will come up. Then I'll make them more solid after that. I'm hoping Jack will help me with that one, I'm not friends with the guys at Home Depot. Actually, I've discovered the older guys there treat me like crap and its the younger ones that offer to help and answer all my questions. Gives me hope for our younger generation. I get to do the same thing again tomorrow. Oh and if it helps make what I did yesterday and today count anymore...my glutes and hams are sore today.

Pam,
heyzeus !
ah gee,
it's none of my business, but ...
if the ground is not prep'd properly, they'll move all over the place after a good frost(s).
if the bricks are not the right kind or sealed, they'll crack and split and go to powder after absorbing water and freezing and thawing and freezing and and and.
it was too bad for me when i did this work and lost it. i can't just say nothing to someone who may run the same risk.
peace,
fish

Fish, the blocks I laid yesterday are for the pump and heater for the pool. Its not a very big area. I'm pretty sure what I have will be ok. I leveled it out and put down some sand. I will fill the areas between the bricks once the gas line is in. I told the guys at HD what I was doing so I am assuming they set me up with the right bricks.
I'll do some reading tomorrow and see if what I did was right. It wouldnt be that big a deal to redo right now.
Thanks for the advice.

Pam,it's a known fact that younger guys go for good looking women and older men can't see the nose in front of their face(well most of them ). What can I help you with in regards to the pavers. A little frost heave can be expected and it sounds like you've done a good job.

Maybe we can talk about the blocks tomorrow. I am not opposed to pulling them all up and doing it over. You wouldnt believe how picky I was when I was trying to level it. I drove Ryan crazy. Anyway we can talk tomorrow about it but I think I did a pretty decent job for what its for. My neighbor came over and thought it looked good..not sure that means anything but he does a lot of work around his house and has done that before. Anyway we will talk.
