Chalk works!!!! I just about lost my grip on the second to last deadlift and looked around for something to keep the sweat off my hands. A can of pine tar looked awfully tempting but what a pain it would have been to get off the bar. I spotted a can of line chalk(red),the kind that goes in a chalk box(line marker),opened the top and put it one hand and rubbed them together. Looked like I'd cut my wrists, red from bottom of palms to finger tips but it worked. I didn't have any grip problems on the last two reps. I'm ordering some chalk!!! Pin pulls(5.5" off floor,no suit, belt, partial sumo stance, pissed off and nasty attitude )--warmup sets,1x2x225,275; 1x1x300,320,340,360,380,390***,400(F); Dimel deads--1x12x135,155,175; Pull throughs--1x10x80,90,100,110,110; Standing ab pulldowns--3x8x70,1x2x80,4x8x70; Preacher hammer curls--1x5x30,35,40,45; 1x1x50(f****** left arm),1x8x40; Tri pushdowns(minibands). Pam,I finished this one in an hour-ten. My back didn't bother me at all. This was the first time I'd tried any deadlift exercise since 6-20. Maybe there's something to the best way to improve your deadlift is not to deadlift .

First let me say WOW, 390 is incredible!! And now pain, thats always a major plus! ;D I've been waiting for you to try chalk. I think I'm going to get some too if it works that well. I dont like the idea of chalk all over my family room but if it helps my grip I'll vacuum. I just worry about T getting into it! Then he would be shipped to you, express! Nice workout. I am missing my workouts big time. I know you're thinking well then woman, just do them. But I have to tell you, between not feeling well, running all over the county, heck the state, and all the kid stuff, pool stuff, sod pulling and brick laying I just havent had time. If I could muster up the strength I could do one now but 8:00 is just too late for me. I didnt get a whole lot done today outside but I felt like I worked a whole lot harder. It is still hot out there, and I mean HOT! Anyway, nice workout. I'm so glad the chalk worked for you and most of all that you didnt have any back pain. My fingers are crossed for you for tomorrow. I'll try to email you later on tonight about tomorrow. My morning is going to be busy and sounds like yours is too but I'll email you with my schedule. Keep me motivated!!!

If the 390 had been from the floor,I'd been more pleased. As you know the deadlift is the weakest link in my chain. That's not saying much about the others but I've just plain sucked when it comes to pulling. I don't think the chalk will be a problem getting on the floor and things.
Since you have a smooth bar,you might want to experiment with some of the line chalk. It washes off easily and if doesn't work, you've got a lot screws to get perfectly aligned on that deck. You won't be out anything either way.

workout chalk is probably less expensive, maybe more absorbant and won't stain. All in all it is what you need. At the time I used the line chalk,it was all I had. There is no place around here that sells "chalk" and I'm going to order some from Dave. Unless you can find a sporting goods store that sells "chalk",it's back to HD for you . I thought you might have some line chalk around the house and could use it just to see what a difference it makes.
