Had an ok weekend, she was pretty good Saturday. Was able to get her in the car and went for a ride to the farm stand. She got really tired till the afternoon.
Sunday she was good in the am, got our walk outside around the house in, sat out for a bit. Afternoon again tired, had trouble at lunch getting her up out of the chair...once she stands for a second she's ok but getting her to lock her legs and stand up is sometimes tough...I couldn't hold her up and she went down to her knees....she was ok though. Got her inside and rested..later at dinner she was good again.
Still haven't heard from the nurses..I guess we fell through the cracks..nothing surprising there. I think I may try to convince Dad into getting the physical therapy people in a couple days a week to get her back on her feet to where he can handle her.

I begin to babble when I talk about aging.
It looked like Nancy's mom was almost all done when a little thing seemed to turn her around. That was years ago, and now she's 88 and talking about life and living.
A plate of mashed potatoes.
God give you strength, Smoke, and hope.
Don't give up hope.
You're already keeping the faith.

forgive me if i repeat things you already know just to remind you through all the distractions.
there is good stress and there is bad stress.
good stress can actually counteract the effects of bad stress.
you are on bad stress overload.
get some good stress.
walk it off, if you can.
get some walking in and relax and look at the birds and flowers while you get some good stress.
glad to hear that your Mom is coming along. she is lucky to have you watching over her.

Thx for the reminder Fish..it's ok to repeat..I need to hear it sometimes.
I am getting a little destressing in here and there...picked blueberries a couple times always a good way to "get away" and have been working in the garden some.

Well nursing finally got here this week..Mom is doing fine..of corse she is, she's only been out of the hospital since july 4th!
PT came in today as well, doesn't look like they are able to do much of anything...keep on doing what were doing. Oh well it was a try...Now I just need to get Dad agreed to trying to get her back into daycare!

the dynamic does not sound good.
i am not there, but it sounds like the one making the only reasonable suggestions come off as the bad guy.
mom in daycare ...
nobody wants mom in daycare, unless daycare is the best option.
you got emotional support ? or are you alone ?
geez !

Uhh..perhaps I came across wrong here.., "They can't do anything" She's doing ok. She isn't able to follow instructions so things like raising her arms and leg lifts are hard to get her to do. That was about the only suggestion they had, keep getting her up and walking is the best.
Daycare would be good I think, she was going 3 days a week prior to going into the hospital. It gives my Dad a break (and me) and she is in out and sees other people. She seemed to enjoy going.
Emotional support...probably not as much as I/we should...but hanging in there.

day care may be a less than optimal term, but what can you say ?
we can not get N's mom to go to the "senior center" although we have no doubt that she would be the mayor of the place in no time.
so she gets minimal socialization - i hate to say it, but thank God for television - and minimal exercise.
just waving your arms around talking gets the blood moving.
i can't even persuade her to go one time to see what it is like.
to her excuses like "i can't drive anymore and a taxi is too expensive." we tell her that with the savings on the car, insurance, and gas pay for taxis back and forth every day.
and we don't have the daily respite issue.
"senior center" "day center" ...
funny thing is that N & i went on one of the daytime outings sponsored by the local rec dep, laughing that we are now officially old people. we had a good time with the other old people.
whoda thunk it ?

What she goes to is designed as an "Adult Daycare" Other folks with alz/dem. We call it the center but it's quite different that a regular senior center.
