Anyone have a good recipe/use for fennel?
I had it sliced on a salad when I was out and I bought some. Threw some of the tops in with stir fry..House smelled awesome..I'm not a huge licorice fan..was glad that the small was stronger than what I put in the stir fry.

slow roast it. they say it's very good with other slow roasted veggies, especially root veggies.
my story about fennel - when one gets old enough, one seems to have stories about just about everything - my story about fennel is a sad one.
i don't like to kill anything that leaves me alone. i regret killing anything that doesn't. i don't even like to kill mosquitoes or horseflies, but then ...
anyway, i found a hand reel that lets me fish from the kayak. nifty thing.
went out to get some striped bass, by all accounts one of the tastiest fish around.
first found a recipe. called for putting fennel in the cavity of the whole fish.
caught a couple of beauties. i mean to say that when i pulled the fish in and looked at them i was stunned by the just plain beauty of the animals.
put them on stringers and paddled in.
i reckon it was torture for the fish. oh, they stayed alive and fresh, all right, but being pulled along on a stringer ...
anyway i did the deed and i killed them and cleaned them and cooked them up.
i can cook. more than that i am a very good mechanic if given proper instructions. tell me how to do it, and there's a pretty good chance i'll get it done proper.
that fennel absolutely ruined the fish. i had to throw them away.
broke my heart.
i have not taken a fish or eaten fennel since.

I'm sorry I asked. Yes...Striper is one of the best tasting fish out there. also fun to catch. Your nick doesn't have anything to do with this story does it..tribute to striped bass or something..lol
