My mom asked me if I'd go with her to check out a workout place called Curves. I'm sure you guys have heard of them before. Its a place for women only and they do a circuit type workout. You do one machine (they are hydraulic) for 30 seconds, then move to a platform where you "catch your breath" by slowly marching in place for 30 seconds at which time you change again. All in all not a bad set up for someone like my mom. It takes about 30 minutes to get through. My mom had asked if I'd join with her and being the good daughter that I am I said I would. Well we got there and the lady was going over heart rates with us. She told us we didnt want to be in the gray zone, which would have been 80% of your MRH. She kept saying that over and over so finally I asked her why. Well get this guys, apparently if you work at 80% or above of your MRH it will eat your heart away! In fact, all the women there backed that up so it much be true. So I said, you eat your heart away? What exactly do you mean by that. And she said "Just that, if you work at 80% your body will start feeding off your heart muscle and you will eat it away." Well hell, no wonder I've been feeling so mean lately, I dont have a heart.
Oh and stretching before your workout is a big no no, doesnt do a bit of good. I could go on but I wont...I heard that collective sigh of relief from you two! I had so much fun with her. She didnt have a clue what she was talking about. Oh one more and I'll be done. They had a sissy squat maching there and they called it "the beast". According to her it was the hardest machine there. So she demonstrated it to me, she only went down about 45 degrees, not even close to parallel. Then she told me to try it out. So I got under it and did it and when I went down to parallel I was told I went down way too low and to never do that. She had no clue as to why. I'm thinking its because she couldnt.
Anyway, it was good humor. We didnt join by the way.
