So I thought to get a conversation going since we picked up some more members twe could tell everyone what we are doing with our diets and exercise now. I went low carb about 2 years ago now, 20-50 carbs a day. Lost 60+ lbs then stalled out, the story of my life. I started seeing an amazing nutritionist last year and she's really helped me. So I have eliminated all grains, sugar and processed carbs. Finally started the leptin diet, ate the same diet just only ate breakfast, lunch and dinner, 4-5 hours between each meal. Well folks it worked, after a year of being stalled I started losing again last October. Then Christmas came and I actually did good but after Christmas I fell into a deep depression. The anniversary of Ryan's accident is February 23 and I was just stuck in depression. I of course ate crappy and gained 15 lbs I'm back on track now and have started following the Autoimmune Paleo Protocol. Basically I'm trying to see if I have any food sensitivities. So for the next month and a half I'm also not eating nuts or seeds, dairy, night shades or eggs. This is my 3rd week and it's getting easier. I'm losing some every day so that's a plus. Really hoping I can successfully add back eggs! I do so miss them. Exercise when I do it is mostly HIIT and lifting. I NEED to get on a regular schedule again. Been hard because I'm always on the road and at my parents but that's an excuse I know, I need to recommit to it. Ok how about everyone else? What's working and what's not??

Getting FAT!
Going through the motions and that's about it.
Was doing really well 2 years ago when I got into riding bike outside. I still ride on the trainer inside but it's not the same. Getting in 11,000 steps every day one way or another, walking outside, Tredmill or bike along with the day to day running around so I am moving...just that the scale want's to move the other way.
What I eat isn't too bad..again need to get back into eating more regularly. I don't eat anything processed, not much sugar..I am still a sucker for my home made english muffin bread ( BAD!!) Do some blending here and there ( kale, carrots, celery, ginger or berries, almond milk, protein powder ect.)I'm not a fan of juicing, I don't think it makes much sense taking all the good fiber out.
My Mom has Alzheimers and is still at home with my Dad so a huge amount of my time is taken up taking care of them....I have a useless Brother that lives right across the street from them..I'm about 1/4 mile away. We have an aid that comes in M-F but m-w-f I need to be home by noon to help with her...t- th the aid is there till 1:00 Hospice has also stepped in, they have been a big help if for nothing else a good resource..they also helped put an M-80 up the aids butt! lol things are better for now with her. ( found out she was spending alot of time on her cell phione, would go out to the car for a ciggarett for like 20 minutes!..she's only there for 2 hours 3 days a week and 5 hours 2 days. and not doing as much as she should have been doing to help out.) So that's my life in a nutshell...also still trying to run a business while all this is going on.
I want to get my mojo back and get rid of at least 25 lbs..I know I can do it...I've done it at least a dozen times before...LOL
Great to have you guys back

Not exactly sure where I left off, but here is my update. As you might remember my husband is a cancer survivor, a miracle actually. His survival odds were poor. We have had a few scares in the past years and we are grateful that he is still NERD (no evidence of recurring disease). Sadly the treatment has left him with terrible arthritis in his hips, legs and back. We have sought out all sorts of treatment for that, mostly unsuccessful. He currently takes high power pain meds and is doing acupuncture. I am also caregiver to my widowed father who lost his vision a year ago. In a short span he lost his vision, had three surgeries (gallbladder, then to add a stent and then remove the stent) helped him sell his home and contents and move into a retirement facility. I have an adult son with bi-polar who still lives at home. Work has become increasingly stressful and I need to work to maintain not only our income but our health benefits. Suffice to say I do not do a great job of taking care of me. A year ago I joined a running group to train for a 5k. Yes I had to train for a 5k. I have done a few races, and am now training to do a 10k. I walk/run. My time is about a 13 minute mile. Won't win any races with that, but I finish. I am nursing a bad knee right now. Seems that tight hamstrings can hurt your knees. Live and learn and stretch! My resting heart rate and blood pressure are good and I sleep well. Diet is not so good. I eat healthy most of the time, whole foods, organic when possible, etc but I eat too much. I need to manage my food better and add weight training to the running. Maybe you all will help me find that motivation and accountability. Time is my biggest hurdle. When I finally have time for me I am pooped. Glad you sought me out.

Wow...you have your plate full too! Was wondering about Bob..Glad he's doing ok with the cancer..too bad about the side effects.
That taking time for you is always the tough part...I go to an alz. group and the one lady there just lost her hubby about 5 months ago...she said she didn't realize how tired she was until after he was gone.
Motivation is one of my problems as well..take for instance now...I had to take care of my Mom this morning, went to work, came back and took care of her at lunch...got home and fed my kidz ( the katz) got myself a bit to eat..now I really shoul workout but I'm probably gong to head for the couch for an hour before I have to go back out to Mom.
Glad your back!

I will never again complain about everything I have going on with my parents! Wow Eileen I don't know how you do it, well actually I guess I have experience with those moments in life where we have no idea how "we do it", we just do...were women.
Always wanted to be a runner, just never had the stamina I guess. When I was younger it was because of my asthma, now, it's just not in me. I give you a lot of credit! Don't know how my knees would handle running now either.
So glad to hear Bob is still in NERD! That is amazing. Also glad you are back. I wish we could get everyone back. We had such an great group. So said that we have lost Shirley, she was such an amazing woman.
