how nice in this day and age to hear that your little girl is doing well.
i congratulate her, and you.
psych sounds good to me. and here comes the very windy rant about ed in general and psych in particular ...
(i've said most of this before, c.f. infra)
i think psych may be a very good choice, but plan on an advanced degree.
school systems, if one can break in as a counselor, will pay for the continuing ed.
not that it matters, but women are the vast majority of psych pros.
i have come to hold the strong belief that the "education-you-pay-borrowed-money-for" beyond high school should be career oriented.
i still think an education in liberal arts is essential but an excellent education in liberal arts is available free on the web, or at low cost elsewhere.
now that the feds have created an explosion in undergrad and grad ed expense and a debt bubble that is about to explode by providing guaranteed-to-the-lender, but non-dischargeable-by-the-borrower loans, and now that the BA in A&S is available free on the web, i can see no justification for incurring huge debt to get what will not turn into a career.
this from someone all of whose sibs have advanced degrees, and all of whose sibs majored undergrad in liberal arts.
i know a little about psych. my family is practically a psych-ward all by itself. but there are a lot of white coats.
one of my sisters has her masters from Columbia in psych;
two or three of her daughters have their doctorates in psych;
my step-dau-in-law just got her doctorate in psych using distance learning.
i guess - because no one knows - that psych will continue to be good because socialized medicine will pay for the dreams and schemes of the pharma-psycho complex.
or is it the psycho-pharma complex ?

if she is interested in what's hot in psych, Kara should look into the DSM-5 controversy.

*they say, for example, that i am paranoid about their complex. or something.
