Thx Fish, I know about Cadence...not saying I follow what I should be doing. I have 18 gears and tend to only use 6...I should force myself into using the opposite 6!
So Ejoyce...did you get your bike?
Pam is off making a list for the concession stands at the fair! lol
Rain & work have kept me off my bike this week so far...if it's nice out I want to go out tomorrow.

the cadence thing is HUGE.
get a very comfortable push load and try to maintain it.
mine is about 80 turns per minute.
look at the road ahead. is it level, uphill, pr downhill.
level, stay in gear
downhill, spin until you simply must get into a higher gear.
going uphill is anticipation.
you know that you are going to change down, so change down early.
it is much more difficult to change down under load.
i like to bike.

Got the bike on Tuesday night and rode a bit both Tuesday and Weds nights. Need to build up my strength, range of motion in my knee (had to raise the seat to accommodate my knee) and mostly build my confidence. Geez it has been 40 years since I have ridden regularly. Tomorrow morning doing a flat trail hoping for 30 minutes. Baby steps.... :-)

GREAT! It was about 20 when I got back into riding any amout...They say "just like riding a bike" Like any new thing don't over do it..I promise your butt will get used to it. If it is really uncomfortable after a few weeks look into a different seat. I had a bear of a week at work and wasn't able to get out, Have some things I need to take care of today around the house. ( Getting chilly out and I need to get my heat stove cleaned up and ready to go, vacuum everything out, take the pipe out and check the chimney.I installed a new carburator last week and did the line filter.) Winter will be here before we know it. Anyway...might get out this afternoon, if not going to try to get over to the park again tomorrow. Happy Riding!

Finally got my butt out...it's so tough doing 9-10 hour days at work then try to workout.
Went for a nice leisurely ride..only about 6 miles around the lake.
