I've mentioned my knee problem which hasn't been a great problem until last Thursday. But even then it was fine if I wasn't driving.
Got up this morning and couldn't walk, no weight on it at all.
Went to an ortho ER took an X-ray and said it was arthritis and they could give me a shot. Really? Arthritis is this debilitating that fast? Opted to wait to see real doc on May 4. Got home and next to gallbladder pain it's the worst I've ever had. Called and they are giving me tramadol, hope it eases it some.
Can't sit, can't stand can't get up the steps to lay down, should make for an interesting night and a crabby tomorrow.
Oh, and I hate crutches!!!! They are going to be the death of me yet.

I am sorry.
If they say arthritis, it should show on the x-ray so that you can see it.
or at least that is my understanding.
take a look at the cartilage biscuit. they should be able to give you numbers on thickness, or lack thereof.
just so you know i empathize, i was with my son and his kids yesterday. the kids were hitting a ball off a tee for the first time. i had to move laterally to catch the ball.
today my knees are on fire.
i mean to say that it hurts.
and they simply give way at time.
up and down stairs, it is scary.
i was a pretty good athlete, once upon a time.
now i can't run.
sometimes i can't even walk.
tomorrow is deadlift day.

She showed me on the X-ray where the space was smaller but just didn't look that much different from where she said it was normal.
I was just seen by a PA so I'll see what doc says.
Just bums me out. Guess I ate crappy for too many years. But I do know there is more I can do dietarily to help stop progression and some say even reverse. Something I have to do more research on. I'll do whatever it takes.
It's just so frustrating fish. I really do eat good, I avoid sugar, gluten and processed foods. I don't eat grains because when I do I feel crappy. I get a terrible pain in my hip when I eat gluten or grains. I do exercise and I can't lose weight. Sigh. Been reading A LOT about how you gut micro biome can affect your ability to lose weight so I've been taking actions to help heal my gut. I can't tell you the difference in energy I have and mentally I just feel better. I have started to lose but it's been slow going. About 13 lbs since the end of January with 5 of those coming off the first week of cleaning up after my Christmas mekt down.
Ive been trying to meditate more, and have been doing some breathing to help activate my parasympathetic nerves system.
Just get on a role and then this. Disappointing to say the least. I did find a good chair workout when I couldn't sleep at 3 this morning so I'm determined to keep going.
Question, when you say you can't walk do you really mean you can't walk or is it that it's extrememly painful? I literally can not put weight on my leg. I mean I probably could but the pain is through the roof and I woukdnt be able to walk.
It is a bit better today. Can put more weight on it but still need to crutches. Hoping it will be better by the end of the week.

I can walk, but I can not run. Rest is the magic word. I started to use indian clubs, and got pretty good, too, but now my elbows are sore. So now I have to mix it up, so one part is working while the other part is resting. Am I lying to myself ? I don't know, but what is the alternative ? I have never asked you gals how old you are, and I'm not asking now, but I will be 67 years old next month, and you gals have been keeping company with me long enough so I reckon you're not teenagers any more. What it is, is, that I am just plain getting just plain old. I could live on nectar and ambrosia, and still have aches and pains. Just keep going with your determination to keep going. Tell me more about the meditation. I have practiced for years. www.amazon.com/Robert-Gass-&-On-Wings-Of-Song/e/B000APC1DO/ref=sr_ntt_srch_lnk_1?qid=1429567561&sr=8-1And then have we discussed SMFR ? I use a piece of pipe wrapped in a yoga mat. Seems to help. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myofascial_releaseI know that you and that Smoke can inspire me to keep fighting. It all gives "Powerlifting" meaning.

and sometimes I can't walk without the risk of falling down.
my knees go "trick".
simply give out, and I'm down.
but the sky is pretty.

I'm just starting with meditation and working hard at not letting my mind wonder. I do guided meditations mostly, they seem to help me with keeping focused better. I also just do breathing exercises. I do something called square breathing, breath in for a 4, hold for 4, blow out through your mouth for a count of 4, then hold again for 4.
Apparently in order to activate your parasympathetic nervous system you do all your breathing through your nose, at least that is what I have read so far. Also humming is supposed to help activate it.
I want to get something called HeartMath. Have you heard of it? I have heard wonderful things about it. Its supposed to help you get your heart rate down and get you in a parasympathetic state.
I will be 52 this year. Its still hard to accept I am in my fifties. I remember when I thought 30 would be old. You are Jack are the same age.
My knee is much better today. Have not had to use crutches. Still upstairs so not sure how I will do on the steps yet. Going to cut out the pain meds today and see how I do.
I do love your sense of humor.

it is my understanding that one does not work hard at keeping one's mind from wandering, but one works gently and persistently.
Ooops, there I go again, but it is meditation time, so let me bring my mind gently back to the object of my meditation.
As for your knee, i wonder what flamed it up ?
i suggest a thigh cuff so you can use the lower pully on the cage for your thigh and glute muscles without involving your knee for a while.
I was 52 at Y2K.
I think I have some logs from those days.

Awww a Sue that was sweet of you guys to take him out. I hope he had a good time remembering all those years with your mom. I get bummed that I will never see a 50th Anniversary.
Fish, yes that's what all the guided meditations say, gently guide your mind back. I think that why guided meditations work best for me, I can focus on what they are saying. Also fo good with focusing on my breath.
Thanks for the tip of the thigh cuff, I've never even heard of those before. I believe that is what has been the hardest part. I finally had a good routine down, was consistent and then this. Getting knocked off the horse and getting back up again is getting old. But as Bruce Jenner said, I can't give up because I'd like to see where this story goes.
I have been doing upper body stuff. I think I can get downstairs so I am going to try to get down there so I can get a better workout in. Want to find an upper body circuit to do like the one JR taught me all those years ago.

JR !
JR was and if he lives I have no doubt still is, a really nice guy.
He gave a lot of very good advice, just because.
Never asked for anything.
I remember someone gave him a ration of un-pleasantness after JR had given his best advice.
Something about JR being too full of himself and his opinions.
I had a fit.
I remember that I gave someone a ration of un-pleasantness in reply.
JR was gracious in his appreciation.
Can we reach out and find him, do you think ?
JR was a really nice guy.
Did I mention that I liked JR ?

Biofit Execise Technologies www.ipersonaltrainer.net/trainer/jrsmithCan't locate a website. Yep JR was an amazing man. I remember getting a message from him saying that he couldn't take seeing me struggle anymore and asked if he could call me. He'd probably be disappointed to know I still had those same struggles. Ok fish, a thigh cuff, my google search came up with some interesting links none of which I decided to click on. Needless to say the results had nothing to do with exercise, well not the kind I was looking for. So would you happen to have or could you find a link to the apparatus of which you speak

It is fish. Once Tanner was looking up the phone number for dicks Spoeting Goods. He typed "dicks" in the search field. I think you know he did not find the number of the sporting goods store. He did call me up right away so he could verify he wasn't looking at porn lol I do keep close tabs on every web page opened on the computer.
Thanks for the link.
