got the guest - subject lines backwards on prior post . here's the fix. wood pile - snowshoes and scoop from back woodpile to porch. hard work, but very good exercise. it has been bitterly cold. the monitor heater runs all night. the wood stove burns all day. we bought 3 cords, and it looks to be more than half gone. happy new year. move snow raking roofs is great exercise. first have to snowshoe a path around the building. tamping the snow down three or four times and then shoeing on a path about a foot deep rather than sinking up to my hips. then using the 17 foot rake to rake snow off about three feet back from the front edge of the roofs. this is to prevent ice dams. i wonder if there is any muscle that does not contribute to the work. after raking the roof, then using the scoop to clear portions of driveway and walkway. sweating in 9 degree ambient temps with high winds and a chill factor well below 9.
functional fitness.

move wood big snowshoes back and forth a few times to pack a trail out to the far pile. clean snow off the top of the pile using the snow scoop, drag about 10 pieces at a time back to the porch unload and pile the wood on the porch. about 20 trips.

Yep that’s a workout! We have about 3 big trees down and the kids and I got jack a chain saw for Christmas. I see splitting and stacking in our future.

snowshoe through the woods. temps above freezing for first time in a month, so the snow got heavy and stuck to the shoes. not as nice a walk as usual, but even more strenuous exercise. have to look up the specific muscles that raise the knee.
