Running but mostly with Dad. He got transferred to the nursing home... he’s not happy nor am I.
Hope the therapy folks there can help him.
He is getting some movement in his arm.
Wait and see.

I’m so frustrated bad enough he is in this place but they are so unbelievably inept. ... his dinner came and it had 4 spoons and no napkin! If they can’t get that right what else is screwed up that is more significant.

Oh, dear, that does not sound good.

Did they do that on purpose because he can not cut his food and it was spoon ready ?

But then, why 4 spoons ?

And no napkin.

Did they offer any explanation ?

I hate to say this, Smoke, but if there is no alternative, perhaps you and your family should be slipping a little extra on the side to some attendants on each shift to watch out for your Dad.

It is an outrage, and you should not have to do it, but if it might work ...

I just want to get him better with therapy and get help for at home.
IMO there is no excuse for that kind of incompetence!

It’s all over though, the incredible amount of stupidity in this world is mind blowing!

I’m trying to apply for home services for him, had a list a mile long, I got it all together and went back to find out what the next step was and she says did you fill out the Medicaid form?... I told her at the beginning that he already had Medicaid!!! Sad part is I’m an Advisory Board member to the aging office and I know this gal!

she has a protocol and that is that.

wish the other folks had a protocol that says 1 spoon, 1 fork, 1 knife, and 1 napkin.

Actually had a meeting addressing some of the issues. They are trying to resolve them.

Picked up a cold... not happy.

Long day but took day off from going to see dad. It’s a lot of running.

Stressed to say the least. Between work, Dad, and decisions...
Had case meeting and it’s not looking promising that he can come home. His house is laid out ok but he would need someone there 24/7. Neither myself or my brother would be able to take him in.
So it sucks. Looking into the correct Medicaid evidently there are 2 different ones. I know he will qualify just the hoops needed to jump through.

The tough part for me Jake is that I didn’t take him to the hospital right away.... maybe it wouldn’t be this bad.

Still hoping for the best, they say he will get a coupe more weeks of therapy, but that all depends on how much he progresses... he don’t show “enough” progress they stop paying. Gotta luvit.

So that’s my life, going to try to get to meditation today;.

i have done a lot of reading on this, F.A.S.T. and all that stuff.

you are probably not being fair to yourself if you are recriminating about the time line.

there are so many variables.

from what i read, at your Dad's age and stage there is no guarantee the outcome would be better if he had suffered the stroke in the hospital.

too many variables.

yes, sooner is better.

but no matter how soon you were, you could have been sooner.

and by that reasoning, it's your fault, regardless.

that ain't right. that's faulty reasoning.

please don't beat yourself up, Smoke.

there is a world of people out there who will do it for you.
