row red great blue heron standing in reeds. other great blue flies past, and the pair fly up and away together. this as the sun was just rising. later an eagle perched in a tree calling.
time flies too. possible 29 days on the water left this year.

row red cloudy, had to wait and even then use the light eagle said hello again.
no rooster this year. used to be one near where i put in, and he would wake the sun up.

row red foggy, had to wait and then use headlight walking to water and saw against the fog background, a heron swoop down into the cove.
both adult eagles, one took a fish, the other followed to a tree.

row red the birds slept in. i try to get to the lake a half hour before dawn, which is civil twilight which is when one can see the path to the water. that lets me row out and back one time before the sunrise, which is blinding over the water on the return leg of the row. on the second circuit i change my usual course. other problem is that since the dawn is later, i wind up driving back as the school buses are picking the kids up. get behind one and a 20 minute drive turns into a 40 minute drive. so i will start going out later, which means that i'll miss the sunrise.

I do catch them sometimes in the afternoon though.
