They tell me that the full moon closest to the Autumnal Equinox is the harvest moon. 2021 = yesterday and today. I try to get on the water just at civil twilight, which is a half hour before dawn. The moon had not set yet and the sky was clear, so I was rowing through the sea smoke with the harvest moon low in the sky. I put it directly behind the boat, so the effect was the moon shine shimmering right down my colonnade. With the full full moon hanging right there, or so it seemed. I got two runs along that route before the moon set. And by that time the sun was just below the opposite horizon. So I got the same effect, but oh, so different, with the dawn's early light.

Cool taking the time to notice stuff like that, I get to work in the dark and always look up to check out the sky. Moon was out this morning.

i reckon backwards 1:45 from dawn to get up time. dawn is now at 6:30 ish.
want to be out on the water at twilight which is 1/2 hour before dawn. want to get to spot with 10-15 minutes to get boat from truck to water. takes just under 1/2 hour to drive to lake need 1/2 hour about to get from the sheets to the truck.
in the spring, when the sun rises at 5, i get up a little closer to your alarm.
but 3:00 am is early any time of year.
you put in long days.

breezy to the point that i had to stay on the lower 1/3 of the lake. the wind was blowing straight up, so it got choppy at the upper middle and end. spring and fall are like that.
yellow boat time. The red boat has a round bottom, 11 inches wide at the waterline. roll roll roll your boat ...
