Pam,
I should have labeled it “progression” rather than “progress”.
‘03 was the first year I did any systematic weight training. I did 7 months of 2 x week static resistance workouts and then spent the next 5 months playing outside. I have never had any real idea of my limits in any lift.
I re-started resistance in mid December using the two weeks to get things lubed up.
Then in January 04 I started my first ever progression toward heavier weights.
So I started at numbers I felt very comfortable with, numbers I thought were well within my capacity.
Thus, I had of room for progression.
Things are tightening up now, and are going to slow down. I hope to get another two weeks out of this cycle, call those numbers 100%, drop back to 80%, take 4 weeks to get to 100% and then get another 2 weeks of progress. The cycle after that I intend to increase the rep scheme, start using a double progression method, and lengthen the cycle.
This will be my first series of cycles, and I am less interested in numbers than in practical learning. I already have a list of questions I’m trying to answer. And I don’t want to take an injury. So it is not likely that I will be trying to get to max numbers with the HDL anytime soon. Maybe never.
It’s good to see you, Pam. Now where is Jack ?
Keep the faith,
fish
