Anyone have any thoughts on what I should eat after a late night cardio workout? Or shouldnt I?

Way back when..when I was kickboxing I usually didn't eat dinner till 9:00 or so. They claim you will continue to burn calories for a few hours after a workout. I wouln't worry about eating, just eat something sensible. I would think you would want to stay away from heavy carbs like pasta, but chicken or fish with veggies shouldn't hurt.

Sounds good to me. So you think Fiber One would be a good choice? It has 14 grams of fiber in 1/2 cup...lot of carbs but I thought maybe because of the fiber it would be ok...its a fairly low glycemic food if I remember correctly.

If you can sleep through, why eat ?
I have read all the before sleep anti catabolic stuff, but that seems more for body builders.
Loosing weight ? They tell me to eat less and move more.
Am I mistaken here ?

You're not mistaken fish. My problem is though despite my weight I dont eat enough. Somedays I was lucky to get in 1000 calories, which isnt good.
I am trying to take in around 1600 calories now and have not used all those before my evening workout. I have found that when I eat I lose. And this week has proved that once again to me. So basically I dont want to cheat myself out of calories that my body may need to help me lose weight...make sense? But I dont know...I'm usually around 1300-1400 calories after dinner..so maybe thats enough? Also after my workout I am usually up for about 2-3 hours so not sure if that makes a difference either.
I just have something light, around 200 calories or so. Its working so far so I'm going to stick to it. It may be something I change once I hit that dreaded plateau.

Pam,
Oh yes, it makes absolute sense. Did we not do this line a while ago ?
The concept of constant limited fueling to keep the metabolic fires burning efficiently seems to be commonly accepted these days.
Smaller, more numerous meals. Brekfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack.
I have read both sides of eating just before bed, though. Bodybuilders and powerlifters seem to approve, while body weight control folks seem not to approve.
In your situation, I think I would simply make sure I got the cals in even if late. But I have also read that if you eat late, be sure your food is easy to digest or you will be more apt to interfere with your sleep.
