So my Mom's one Hospice nurse comes from a pretty extensive medical history..worked in a cancer ward for quite awhile, has been with this Hospice unit almost 2 years..she's seen her share of death....So she came in today and the blood vessels in her one eye were all blown out..I said how did you manage that..she said she had been crying and went to blow her nose...She had to put her kitty down, was 11 years old and had cancer, started bleeding from the mouth & nose...now she worked in a cancer unit...she knows all about cancer....she said she didn't want to see him suffer anymore....
Ok move ahead a few minutes and we go over to my Mom who is now coming to the stage of losing circulation in her feet & legs so purple spots are starting to show up, her urine has been extreamly concentrated for several days now, she is starting to build up mucus, she has a spot on her bottom that we are praying doesn't open...but it's ok for us to watch her suffer.
There is a real problem with our society.

Don't know what to say Sue. I guess we just have to pray that God knows what he's doing. I sure hope she isn't in pain. Is she getting anything for pain?

She doesn't appear to be in any discomfort. I have drops to help dry up the fluids in her chest, morphine for any pain and some sort of anxiety med..I don't want to use anything if we don't have to.
My Brother and his girlfriend have been stopping by..I'm like...Why freakin bother now...you didn't give a shit for the last 5 years.
I just sooo want it to be over. My one friend who's husband just passed a few months agos said she didn't know just how tired she was until he passed...and she doesn't know how she did it.

Oh Sue, my heart aches for you. Just know that she is fortunate that she has you, to love her and care for her. My Mom and I had a bumpy relationship all our years, when she was sick (multiple myeloma) all those past "bumps" fell away and we got to the core of what we were to each other. Mother and daughter. It is so very hard to see our loved ones suffer, I will continue to pray for her comfort and yours. -Eileen
