For lack of a better subject title.
So no secret I've been battling some depression. Normal for this time of year but none the less it's tiring. This holiday season was extremely hard for me, and with the looming anniversary in a month, well I'm just having a rough go of things. I know this is normal, I know some years will be harder than others, I know there is a name for this but none of that really matters. It just feels icky.
So I am attempting to do something positive. I wanted to use this thread to talk only about positive steps I've taken or things I have done during the day. No negative stuff. I know I will have days when it's hard to just get out of bed but I am going to come here everyday with at least one positive comment, maybe this will be more of a graditude journal. I am not ignoring the issue, I deal with Ryan being gone everyday I just need to try to find moments of peace.

1/21 Today I worked out twice and made Tanner and Jack their favorite granola bars. Felt really good to workout and my arms are already sore, I miss that feeling. Had more energy today than I've had in what seems like forever. All in all a pretty good day. Oh I even got 10,000+ steps in despite forgetting to put my fitbit on for my cardo

So today I was able to get a workout in, made apple crisp which I'm pretty sure no one will eat because there's not much sugar in it but I thought it was good. Then I made some ketchup, new recipe not sure I'll make that one again. Still looking for a really good ketchup recipe.
Also made some yummy Honey Dijon balsamic dressing and I have burgers in the oven for dinner.
I'm feeling pretty good about what I was able to get done.

did you get the meat grinder attachment ?
nc always cuts the sugar from in a recipe by at least 2/3, and even then we often think there is too much.
she made a lemon meringue pie as requested by friends the other day, and she made it per recipe.
it was a very good pie, but it was just too sweet for lemon meringue.
i have the feeling that we are all hanging on by our fingernails. it is the dead of winter, after all. the days are short and cold.
keep moving, keep doing.

No fish I didn't get one but there is always my birthday.
I mostly use stevia when can rather than sugar. I think you can cut sugar a lot in most recipes. One of the best things to come out of this new way of eating is not craving sweets anymore. Never thought I could accomplish that.
I can't wait for winter to be over. I don't mind winter but this -30 weather is just getting old. It is so sad when 0 feels almost warm.

I made applesauce in the fall and froze it. No sugar just the spices. I left it chunky, I'll take a container out and thaw it enough to scrape it out...great altrnative for ice cream and no extra sugar.

I wanted to try making peanut butter banana ice cream when I got my new blender a couple years ago so of course I had to freeze the bananas, Kara and I discovered it works best if you peel them first lol
Once we got that right it was THE most amazing ice cream, banana, peanut butter and cream. Also do one with just raspberries and cream. That ones not sweet enough for the kids.

I took today to just sit in front of the fireplace and read, without feeling guilty!
Also made a really good stir fry for lunch.

Something positive for yesterday was I got some house work done.

Had a really good appointment with my nutritionist and also finally made the decision to do a a Daniel Fast. More for the spiritual aspect. I think really making time to connect with God can only be positive. So did my shopping and got some stuff prepped. I won't be eating any meat, dairy or God willing drinking any coffee. Also no wheat or sugar but I Don't eat that anyway. Will be sticking to veggies, fruit and nuts and seeds. Wish I had a group to do this with but that's ok.

Well today I found Easton. I received an email saying the battery was low so I figured that meant she was within 15 some direction of the charging base. And she was, I found her tucked safely at the bottom of my sheets.
Didn't get near as many steps as I wanted but I did get in a workout and day 2 of my fast went good.
