took a short foliage tour, just a little early. weather for the next few days not good for peeping.
maybe mid-late next week.

saw first one, then two juvenile loons. they were talking. i don't think they know i speak loon. they are confused and upset that mom and dad left them to fend for themselves.
i can also sing a few loonytunes

There were leaves on the surface of the water this am.
Looking at the leaves on the water against the reflected backdrop of the changing trees was nice.
Great Blue Heron swooped past the boat to land on a nearby dock.

remarkably good weather for October.
heard an eagle call and there the bird was, up in the usual tree. very unusual that they call.
same trip, different tree, eagle falls out into flight and simply makes one circle over the boat.
the greeks thought eagles could be omens.
omens can be good or bad, so why have we made ominous into a negative ?
