We seem to have caught something while visiting the little one, and between this and that are taking until monday off.
Although I may move some wood tomorrow.
Caught the first chipmunk of the season yesterday.

Hope it’s nothing serious.
Alex had a chippy the other day, I intervened and it went up a tree… she sat and waited… not sure what the outcome was.

wood
i get to swing a hand sledge to make sure the wood is piled evenly enough so the wall of wood won't fall over for a couple of years. the piles are about 5 feet high.
did a little juggling too.

did my wood work for the day.
we have a few trees that i am pretty sure have to come down before they fall on the house. far beyond my competence, so i need to make a call. i'd like to process the wood myself, but i have done that work in the past and unless you have a crew, the splitting is a brutal job with an hydraulic splitter.
i can't drop it. i can cut it i can split it but it's a lot of hard work.
i imagine that there is a price per stage set up.
x amount drop the trees. x+ to clear the branches x++ to move the logs x +++ to cut the logs into 16" sections x++++ to split the sections.
hardwood cut and split is $290 a cord these days around here.

My neighbor is 81 and still gets tandem of logs…. Cuts, splits, stacks all by himself… I get tired just watching him.
It will keep you out of mischief.

moving and stacking and packing. it is surprising just how much adjustment i have to make to get the wall even. i think it settles over time, and requires periodic adjustment.
your neighbor is superman. i don't mind the cutting or the stacking. and i suppose i haven't done any serious splitting for quite a few years. i ought to give it a try again.

wood
it really is good exercise. lots of bending, twisting, lifting. hands and wrists
legs get to do farmer's walk stuff with the loads. not aerobic, but the heart thing is still a bit of a problem.
added the back work on the mat and ball before the shower.
the ticks are back in great numbers.

I was moving stone at work a couple weeks ago… we have a pretty big wheelbarrow but it’s a little rickety… I didn’t fill it all the way since it wasn’t quite up to snuff…. But I was glad because neither am I! Lol

wood again and again. i get out early and while it's work, i take some satisfaction in it.
heavy wheelbarrow work requires some skill and knowledge. first skill to keep the thing from getting unbalanced, then knowing when to let it go if necessary.
one can get hurt trying to fight it.

did extra wood today early before rain.
problem: i know that when one buys cord-wood it always comes short. but this time i ordered 4 cord, and it sure looks like it is stacking out at 3. i stack the wood on pallets to keep it off the ground.
1 cord = 4' x 4' x 8' stacked wood.
the wood is in 16" pieces.
i run 4 foot long pallets along the ground in 3 parallel rows.
i stack the wood 4' high on each pallet 3 pallets deep of 16" pieces of wood = 3x16=48" inches of wood= 4' front to back. each pallet is 4' long, so 2 pallets = 8 long '
so 4' high x 4' deep x 8' long = 1 cord.
i like the seller, but that is too short.
Oh well, it will be easy enough to stack and measure the wood. Hopefully no problems after that.
The seller we bought from before this guy over-shorted us once. I showed him the stacked wood and he said someone must have come and stolen what was missing. We don't do business any more.

Everything is coming up shorter. All started with a lb of coffee being 25 oz. I remember that 30 years ago. And it’s only getting worse. We just hit $5 a gallon for gas! People are going to get creative.
Your last guy would have looked like less of an ass if he had used the excuse that you had it stacked to tight.
I get trying to make a living but why can’t they just be honest…. Sad
