MIKIA says:
your walking and getting into cardio zone problem may because you are fundamentally fit.
otherwise your heart rate would rise.
i spent years as a heart rate trainer.
and when my knees broke down, i became a serious walker.
there is a lot of technical stuff involved.
if you are doing "long, slow distance" and you are fit, your heart rate will stay pretty steady throughout.
increasing effort, which means speed over the course, should increase heart rate.
increasing speed over the course eventually means changing your walking technique.
"race walking" is more effective exercise than jogging.
yoga tomorrow.

still thinking about your heart rate observations.
i used to do a dynamic sun salutation.
my heart rate would soar.
there are lots of examples on u tube.
can't find mine, but any of the ones i see, done in a continuous flowing motion, look like good aerobic/strength/flexibility work.
i may try it again, but i don't know if i am capable.
i'm still doing the yoga postures, though !

the dynamic sun salutation is a great exercise that can be done in a small space with almost no noise. i hope to do it again.
mentioned we got a new cart. brought it over here to show you because you use a wheelbarrow moving rocks and stuff.
gorilla 7 sq ft cart.
put it together and moved wood.
this thing is a bear. great reviews at all vendors.
blue big box $180 orange big box $229 amazon $259 (on sale)
if you are considering a replacement take a look if you are not considering a replacement, take a look anyway.
heavy metal frame plastic box, but looks and feels tough and is well reviewed.
dump action is very nice. volume for light carry can be expanded with sides.
if this thing lasts a few years, it's worth the price.

Interesting cart. Is it a heavy lift if you have a full load?

Met with friends this morning, walked around parking lot for about 20 min waiting for them. No yoga today, got tied up helping neighbor with wood and other odds and ends.

There are lots of videos on You Tube with demos and reviews. new 1 year 2 years 3 years
self described older women are very pleased about the mechanical advantage the cart offers to let them deal with the loads. young guys seem to like it too.
As for your question not sure if you are asking about:
1 pull vs. push or
2 dumping
1 push pull It's different. I have always used a wheelbarrow until the snow flies, and then a sled. so it's lift and push with the barrow over the ground, and just plain pull with the sled over the snow. the cart is just plain pull.
initial impression is that the barrow was "lighter" over the ground than the cart, but then realized that I had loaded the the cart with almost twice the weight. factor in the balance component, and other things equal, i like the cart.
2 dumping
It's different. Cart wins no question.
BUT watch this whole thing, but especially at about 20+ seconds..
Notice how the unchocked wheels run back, bringing the frame into her shins. It happened to me on the first dump.
No problem if you you are ready for it. Or can chock a wheel too.
I don't want to lift from the side, but can do a two handed lift from the handle end either using the leading edge of the cart, or running a bar through the handle.
My wheelbarrow got old and broken, just like me.
